Alternatives to Obamacare & The Affordable Care Act
Affordable health insurance plans built with the benefits you really need.
Alternatives to Obamacare that work beyond the 9 to 5

We get it. Checking out alternatives to Obamacare makes some people nervous, especially when the Affordable Care Act (ACA) non-compliance penalty can amount to over $600. Not cool.
But despite what you may have heard, Obamacare is not your only available path to signing up for affordable and excellent health coverage. Our licensed health insurance agents have other helpful routes towards not only choosing the right coverage for you and your family, but the best way to avoid that nasty penalty fee.
Minimum Essential Coverage is one of those options. It’s ACA-compliant, it doubles down on the essentials, and saves you cash by leaving out what you don’t need. Physicals, vaccines, and health-forward counseling mean you and your family can thrive, and flexible add-ons make for a cleverly tailored way to meet your specific needs.
Our alternatives to Obamacare come with plenty of advantages
- Flexible enrollment – While you can only enroll in an Obamacare plan three months during the year, our Obamacare alternatives allow you to enroll year-round
- Benefits to keep your family healthy – You can still count on coverage for important things like physicals and vaccines, and health-forward counseling to keep you and your family healthy
- Assistance avoiding the Obamacare tax penalty – We’ll help you sort through the 14 ways you could avoid paying a tax penalty for not having a health insurance plan that meets the mandatory legal requirements under Obamacare
Types of Available Plans:
Term Health Insurance
With term health insurance you get the ultimate in flexibility and affordability. Maybe you’re looking for coverage to bridge you to Medicare. Maybe you’re between jobs or between benefits. You’re 26 and coming off your parents’ insurance, or you’re healthy and under 65. Term health insurance offers coverage up to six months in California and up to 364 days in most other states. Premiums are typically half the cost of an Obamacare plan – interested yet? You get fast coverage, pick your deductible amount, and can even drop coverage with no penalty. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t save on health care costs! NOTE: Term health insurance plans DO NOT cover pre-existing conditions.Limited Benefit Plan
With a Limited Benefit Plan (LBP), your insurance company will pay up to a certain amount for a service, and then you pay the remaining cost. This includes office visits, lab tests, and other inpatient and outpatient services. It’s worth noting that a LBP provides the least amount of protection, but it is typically a third of the cost of the lowest-cost Obamacare plan in the region. The premiums are also typically half the cost of an Obamacare plan. The LBP may be right for you if you don’t qualify for financial assistance towards your plan, do not qualify for a special enrollment period, or you are undocumented or have undocumented family members. NOTE: Limited benefits plans DO NOT cover prescription drugs.
